A subject that most avoid, especially if your a guy, but it needs to be mentioned as it can be a barrier for female fat loss. 

The dreaded “Time of the Month”. 

Day 13 or 14 of their cycle, ovulation phase, women will have the highest amount of testosterone which can lead to some of their best lifts and performance. 

However, once a woman enters the luteal phase, hunger cravings increase, up to an extra 500 calories a day. 

During this phase there will be a decrease in performance. You won’t be able to lift as heavy or train as hard. There is even a higher risk of injury during this phase. 

It is therefore important to plan ahead of time for your period. 

If your dieting, try to follow a plan that has a daily allowance. For an example please see my blog on “Meal Planning”. 

You could save the daily allowances from the first two weeks of the month, and, then factor in the allowances when you begin to have your period. 

Craving something sweet? Try reaching for fruit instead. It will help with the hunger cravings and energy levels as well. Perhaps with the guilty pleasures as well. 

It’s important to listen to your body, follow a sound plan and take care of yourself.
